Brisbane South Alcohol & Drug Counselling

Taking Control | Changing Lives

We have a high recovery success rate.

I got stopped by the cops and drug tested. i was done for drug driving. i was gutted. I had to go to court but was worrying about going to jail or getting a conviction. I didn't know what I was going to do. My brief said go to counselling that would look good for me. I tried a few alcohol counselling places when I rang the lady said that I could have an appointment in a month. My court date was in a few weeks.  she wasn't sure if they did letters etc she was not very helpful. I was gutted so I did nothing. The night before the court .I googled alcohol & drug on the gold coast and found Kevin. I rang up and Sue gave me an emergency appointment that night. She said they could do a letter too. I was lucky to get to see Kevin and the court made me do more sessions with him. Its hard to talk but Kevin is a good listener and knows me now. He's why I am clean. Try and get over the embarrassment or avoiding going to talk about your drinking or drugging cause it helps you with so many things in life.

I have been to so many psychologists over the years and have still been using drugs to get high. I don't be honest with the psychologists. I tell them what they want to hear. So no one has helped me give up yet.  Late last year, I overdosed and ended up nearly dying. I hated seeing the faces of my wife and children when they came to the hospital. My kids were there when I OD.  I am so sick of people talking to me about my using like they know what its like. My wife has told me its her and the kids first or she's 'out of here.' I saw Gold Coast Alcohol & Drug counselling on Google. I read their website and thought 'this guy might be able to help me.' It was hard to go to the first appointment I just wanted to cancel out. When I got there I found Kev and Sue to be 'real people' that hard a lot of time for me. Kev is a great guy easy to talk too and 'gets me.'  I have been clean now for 6 months and its because I found the guy who knows his stuff. Kev is the guy I would tell anyone who has issues to go see cause he's good at what he does.  Joshua December 2016

I found GCADC on line. I have no hesitation in recommending this service to anyone who may require assistance with abuse or perceived abuse. I learned many mental and physical tools to cope with stress and all that makes life difficult. Thanks Kevin and Sue for all your help, I will never forget. Brett

During my time working with Kevin Donovan, he was down to earth, professional & positive. Kevin helped me challenge my personal beliefs & thought patterns & consistently gave me support when needed. Kevin was encouraging, genuine & helped me accomplish my goals while continuing to move forward.

From the moment I arrived you made me feel welcome and valued.  I have been lucky to have many  honest conversations with you which have given me a valuable sense of personal and professional growth.  You have a very kind and compassionate nature giving  Gold Coast Alcohol & Drug Counselling a very special place in my heart. The way you carefully apply your  knowledge  with a good mix of warm care is a rare trait in a bloke and one which I admire.  I have learned so many valuable lessons from my counselling sessions with you. I hope this is the beginning of a long professional and personal relationship.  Brad White, 2015

"My daughter received counselling for drug addiction at Gold Coast Alcohol & Drug Counselling.  Kevin clearly outlined and explained any concerns regarding my daughter's progression and progress to date which was very helpful.  He suggested that our family may find it helpful to attend counselling to assist us in gaining a greater understanding of the tools required to deal with addiction.  This was a very confronting time for both my daughter and our family.  It was very reassuring to be able to speak to Kevin who assisted us to understand addiction better.   Sharon McKay, 2014
